A journey everyone can take
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and we treat accessibility problems as bugs.
What we’ve built in
- Readable text. Prayer text starts at 19px or larger. On each day you can choose from four text sizes in Reading settings.
- High contrast. An optional high-contrast mode is in Reading settings, and all standard colors meet AA contrast.
- Reduced motion. We respect your system’s “reduce motion” setting, and you can also turn animation off in Reading settings. The flipbook then turns pages without animation.
- Keyboard. Every link and control works with a keyboard and shows a visible focus ring. A “Skip to content” link is the first item on every page. The flipbook supports the arrow keys.
- Works without JavaScript. All prayers, reflections, and actions are plain HTML. Only progress tracking, settings, and notes need JavaScript.
- Text alternatives. The original booklet’s pages are images, so every prayer is also published as accessible text on its journey day. The Prayer Library maps each booklet page to its text.
- No autoplay. Optional ambient sound starts only when you press Play, begins quietly, and has its own volume control. Spoken narration, when it arrives, will never play automatically, will come with transcripts, and pauses the ambient sound while it plays.
Known limitations
- The downloadable PDF is the original print booklet and may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Please use the web text instead.
- A formal screen-reader review with assistive-technology users is scheduled for the pilot phase.
